A modern adaptation performed by the Théâtre en Pièces theatre company.
Based in Chartres, the Théâtre en Pièces has already earned wide acclaim for its touring productions of theatrical masterpieces, always staged at major heritage sites: in 2006, it put on Paul Claudel’s “L’Annonce faite à Marie” (The Tidings Brought to Mary), giving 36 performances along the Route of Santiago de Compostela; in 2007, a first production of “Souper” by Jean-Claude Brisville was staged at the chateaux of Eure-et-Loire, and in 2011 at the chateaux of the Loire Valley; in 2008, Sophocles’ “Electra”; and in 2009, Paul Claudel’s “Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher” (Joan of Arc at the Stake), once again along the Route of Santiago de Compostela.
