From 9 September to 29 October
Brigitte Chappaz-Bourroux,
"Enchanted gardens"
With Touraine Embroidery and Lace
In the gardens of Villandry, passion and dedication come together to foster and uphold extraordinary creativity with plants – two elements essential to the art of embroidery. One need simply set eyes on one of her works to know that Brigitte Chappaz has both. A passionate collector, for many years she has been patiently unearthing antique silks and lace, which she skilfully embroiders, creating motifs, large-scale tapestries, small tableaux or even bound books. For this new exhibition at the Château de Villandry, the gardens come alive under her needle, as she imagines an enchanted universe, a botanical fairytale.
The exhibition sees her surround herself with embroiderers and lacemakers from Touraine who will also be presenting their creations, their expertise second to none.
To celebrate European Heritage Days on 16 and 17 September, as well as different meeting and demonstration sessions, embroiderers and lacemakers will introduce and share their craft with visitors, a craft to be preserved… and reclaimed.
Exhibition to discover as part of the visit of the château.
