Villandry awarded national “Tourisme & Handicap” status
With the help of the Touraine Departmental Tourist Board, Villandry has been working hard since 2009 to make its château and gardens accessible to all members of the public.
Its efforts have primarily been focused on the building infrastructure (signage, toilets, outside footpaths, etc.) and visitor tools (illustrated visitor notices, tactile models, Braille visitor book, etc.). In recognition of its efforts to welcome people with mental, physical and visual disabilities, it was awarded “Tourisme & Handicap” status in 2015.
This status recognises the work that has been carried out to ensure that the site is accessible to people with disabilities and that they enjoy a high-quality visitor experience.
