The Nights of a Thousand Lights
Due to recurring summer droughts, the 2023 evenings will not end with fireworks.
While the last light of day still colors the gardens, the flames of more than 2000 candles gradually illuminate the aisles and reveal boxwood patterns. Villandry invites you on a walk punctuated by the animations, closed by a water and light show, promise of a poetic evening.
On the programm of those 2023 evening :
- Walk in the gardens illuminated by more than 2000 candles – from 8 p.m.
Decorative vegetable garden, ornamental gardens, water garden or sun garden, walk through the seven hectares of Villandry gardens at nightfall and illuminated by candlelight.
- Villandry at the Renaissance, costumed visit – at 8.30 p.m. and 9 p.m. (in French)
Go back in time to browse and discover the gardens of Jean Breton, builder of Villandry during the Renaissance, in the company of our costumed guides!
- Wooden games – from 8 p.m.
In the main courtyard of the castle, come and challenge yourself and have fun with family and friends with ten wooden games.
- Circassian performances – from 8.00 p.m.
Circassian artists meet you at different points in the gardens for powerful and graceful performances…
- Fountain show, lights and music – at 11 p.m. in July, 10.30 p.m. in August
In the water garden, water rises and comes alive with music and light to end the evening in style.
Doors open at 8 p.m. – Arrival possible until 10 p.m.
The Doulce Terrasse restaurant will be open until 10 p.m. Reservation strongly recommended.
