The gardens of Villandry are one of the few places in France to be open every day of the year.

The chateau will be open from 9 a.m. from February 4 to November 12, 2023 inclusive, including public holidays, and from 9:30 a.m. from December 2, 2023 to January 7, 2024.

Villandry is located in the Loire Valley. It is just nine miles from Tours.

How to visit Villandry

  • For individual visitors: daily guided tours of the château in French (approximately 1h15) offered from 18 March to 12 November 2023 (except Sundays and long weekends).
    Regular departures, variable hours depending on the season.
    The visit is offered without reservation and at no additional cost to the entrance fee.
  • For groups (from 15 visitors), guided tours of the château and / or gardens are available by reservation (in French or in English).

To prepare for your visit

  • You can buy your tickets directly on site for the visit of the château and the gardens, or the gardens only.
    No reservation – No limitation of places.
  • E-tickets are not skip-the-line tickets.
  • Free car / bus parking spaces are available to visitors near the chateau.
    In the château parking lot, there are parking spaces reserved for camper vans for the duration of the visit (night parking prohibited – camper van area in the village).
  • An unguarded bicycle parking is located near the entrance to the domain.
  • 4 parking spaces for people with disabilities are located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the domain. Other spaces are also available at the tourist office car park (150 m from the entrance).
  • A circuit indicated in the visit booklet enable you to explore all of the gardens with a stroller.
  • Strollers are not allowed inside the castle. You can drop them off in a dedicated space at the entrance to the castle during the visit.
  • A baby-changing table and a baby bottle warmer are available.
  • A book-game “Le Sortilège de Jean Le Breton” is given to families in the ticket office to visit the gardens. In French only – for 8-12 years old.
  • Dogs are admitted in the gardens, kept on a leash throughout the visit.
  • Only small dogs carried in a bag/basket throughout the visit are permitted inside the château.
  • Picnics are not allowed in the park. We allow you to go out for lunch and then come back to finish your visit. The ticket is valid all day.
  • A picnic area about 100m from the château entrance (behind the Tourist Office of Villandry) is available.

Storage lockers are available to visitors after the ticket office.
Small bags, backpacks, motorcycle helmets can be dropped off for free.

For the visit of Villandry, you can only buy your tickets on site.

How to come to Villandry?

To come and enjoy our gardens at any time of the year, you have a number of possibilities.

Villandry is easily accessible by motorway and road. It is just nine miles from Tours, in the Loire Valley.
By the A85, Villandry is just half an hour from Chenonceau!

Free parking cars/buses are available near the castle.
An unguarded bicycle parking is located near the entrance to the domain.

Coming from Paris? It’s dead easy!

  • By car (150 miles): A10, exit 24 (Joué-lès-Tours), then A85 towards Saumur, exit 8 (Villandry)
  • By rail: from Paris Montparnasse (55 mins), then by taxi from Tours or Saint-Pierre-des-Corps station (20 mins)
